Challenges

USPS had placed a shipping restriction on the transportation of PACT items, such as CBD, Hemp, and similar products, when they were sold in bulk quantities of less than 150 pounds. These products had to comply with the PACT Act regulations aimed at preventing cigarette trafficking. Unfortunately, at that time, Bigcommerce did not have a validation system in place to ensure that customers purchasing these products and entering a delivery address were PACT approved.

We recognized the need to ensure that PACT ACT regulations were being upheld, especially for products such as CBD, Hemp, and other similar items sold in bulk quantities. To address this, we implemented validation logic that checks compliance with PACT ACT regulations before displaying USPS shipping methods.
Our team also recognized the importance of creating a visually appealing and user-friendly checkout process. As such, we enhanced the overall look and feel of the checkout, focusing on the validation transition process to make it more intuitive and smoother for customers. We worked to create a seamless experience that would minimize the risk of cart abandonment and ensure that customers could complete their purchases with ease.
