Magento Migration & Customization

The Challenge

BioSkin’s e-commerce store was built on Magento version 1.9 and is about to become obsolete. Hence, there was an urgent need for the company to upgrade to the recent version of Magento i.e Magento 2.3. Given that BioSkin deals with both B2B and B2C clients, the complexity of upgrading such a website was immense. The requirements gathered are given below

  • Seamlessly migrate website from Magento version 1.9 to version 2.3 with little to no downtime.
  • The website had responsiveness issues which gave out a negative impression of the company to its visitors.
  • Time constraint and tight deadline.
  • Store customizations with features such as:
    • Multistore for B2B and B2C clients.
    • Hiding prince for not signed-in clients from the B2B website.
    • Customer level pricing. Showing different pricing to different customers based on specified customer groups.
    • Custom filtration on the product listing page.

Our Solution

Apart from the Migration of the website from Magento 1 to Magento 2, the store also had some bugs that required fixing. BioSkin also needed some custom features for their store so that they can carry out their business effectively, and give out a good experience to both B2B and B2C customers.

The store also required UI and UX fixes. Being on Magento 1 meant that BioSkin was missing out on new features offered in Magento 2 such as advance content staging, built-in elastic search, in-site PayPal, customizable data grid for catalog, pricing by order volume etc.

  • Folio3 migrated the store from Magento 1.9 to Magento 2.3. Folio3 migrated the entire database without compromising the security and kept the downtime to a minimal.
  • Custom theme design for both B2B and B2C websites. The entire design was overhauled keeping in view the responsiveness and performance. Both the B2B and B2C websites had different themes tailored to cater to their respective audiences.
  • Folio3 also provided quality assurance services, making sure everything is in top-notch quality.
  • Added new custom features such as:
    • Custom pricing for B2B and B2C clients
    • Hiding prices in B2B website for visitors that are not signed in
    • Custom product filtration on category pages

The Result

The folio3 team not only Migrated the store without any downtime, but even made the website responsive and more attractive. As usual, all the tasks were completed on time and within the given deadlines.
